As PS Vita gets its second birthday, games get serious price-cuts!

by GH Staff

Roll out the birthday cake. Sony’s PS Vita has just turned two! That’s right, the portable console has been launched two years ago, and Sony is celebrating its second anniversary. During the last year, the PS Vita evolved quite a bit, receiving Remote Play functionality with the Playstation 4, and got ready for the launch of the Playstation Now service. It hasn’t been the most successful Sony product since creation, but alas, the PS Vita isn’t doing that badly either. It’s bound to be selling a lot better once Playstation Now has been released and can be used to its full potential. Regardless, to celebrate properly, Sony is trimming prices on many popular PS Vita titles. Here’s the full list:

The Vita’s success was moderate at best. Still, there are some great titles (even on the discount list), and Spelunky is one of them. It’s addictive, fun, challenging and engaging. And, best of all, it can be played forever and ever. It’s probably the best bang for the buck on the Vita, offering potentially unlimited hours of gameplay. While we don’t necessarily agree with the decision, Gamespot has actually awarded Spelunky with the Game of the Year distinction in 2013.

If you own a PS Vita and have been running out of content to play, this might be a good time to fill the gaps. With a Playstation Plus subscription, some of these titles are a bargain, costing as little as $2.09. Which, quite frankly, is next to nothing. What were your favorite PS Vita games of last year? Personally, we’re huge fans of both Spelunky and Tearaway.
