[dropcap size=dropcap]C[/dropcap]ricket enthusiasts who are also ardent gamers have always marveled at the various options that kept coming up over the years. However, many people who are not fond of cricket kept complaining that the sport in itself is not enticing enough to draw attention. The challenge was to produce a version of the game, which is so close to real life experience and at the same time so enticing that such blames are thrown out of the window. But the latest events have produced rather the opposite; a tremendous setback as one of the latest versions of cricket games has been withdrawn off the market by the makers themselves.
The game
Players who played ‘Ashes 2013’ experienced some weird moments while playing it anyway. There were times when the characters in the game would start acting strange- players suddenly start running without any logical reason, fielders throwing the ball at teammates randomly and so on. There have even been posts of weird moments with screenshots by disappointed gamers.
The impact
Eventually, the issues have gotten so strong in impact that the makers of the game have withdrawn the same from the market and stated quality benchmark failure as the reason. This is a first of its kind move and makes the game a strong contender for the worst game ever to be released. One cannot help but wonder with so many issues at such strong levels, what prompted the release of the game in the first place? Could the makers not spot the problems by their units of testing before it was released? The event leaves behind a lot of questions to be answered.

505 Games has pulled off the Ashes 2013 Cricket from their shelves, after several complaints from various sections. The game is also tagged as the worst game of cricket that has ever come out on any gaming platform. Due release date of the cricket game on PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360 was set for June 2013. However, it was postponed and rescheduled for November release after 505 Games encountered several problems.
The publisher, 505 Games, has taken the stern step after it was unhappy with the quality of the game. The company even blamed the developer, Trickstar Games, for such mischief and has decided to refund all buyers of the game.
According to personnel of 505 Games, the developer failed to live up to expectations and even with abundant experience to develop cricket games, they failed to overcome imminent challenges. The personnel also reported that the developer even failed to cope with the problems after extending the deadline of releasing the game.
According to a note posted by barmyarmy, on planetcricket.net forum, “The bowling is terrible with opposition scoring runs from overthrows. The computer blocked every delivery at lightning speed. Batting is also harder since there is no scope for shot selection with quicker balls coming from the opposition end.”
505 Games issued a statement saying, “We are disappointed for failing to meet expectations and extend apologies to people who have purchased the product.”
The publisher has announced that they would soon get in touch with all buyers and start the process of refund as soon as possible.
