Developer Ubisoft has updated the facts & figures page on their official website, showing that the Assassin’s Creed games are the company’s best selling franchise to date. A massive 73 million copies have been sold all together, although it’s unclear whether that includes spin-off titles such as Altaïr’s Chronicles and Bloodlines.
The first game in the series was released back in 2007 on PS3 and Xbox 360, then on PC just a year later. Since then, numerous sequels and spin-offs have emerged, quickly becoming one of the most popular video game franchises to date whilst maintaining consistent critical praise.
It is more than likely Ubisoft will reveal more details regarding the next game in the series; Assassin’s Creed: Unity at this year’s E3, which kicks off June 10 until June 12. Unity is a sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and will allow players to explore sandbox environments set during the French Revolution.
