Ubisoft has officially announced a release date for Assassin’s Creed Rogue. The company has stated that the game will release on November 11th, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There had been previous leaks, but the official release date is now confirmed. In the game, players play as Shay, an assassin turned assassin-hunter, after a mission goes terribly wrong.

There have also been rumors that Assassin’s Creed Rogue may eventually make its way to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, however, statements made by Ubisoft seem to prove otherwise (for now). Claims made by the game’s producers have implied that the game is more suited to previous generation consoles because of the inherent differences between console generations, but have not denied the possibility of it eventually coming to the PS4 and XB1. Nevertheless, current-gen gamers will have Assassin’s Creed: Unity to enjoy when it comes out October 28th, 2014.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue is sure to please fans of the series who have not yet decided to buy into the current generation of consoles. The gameplay looks to be comparable to that of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, sharing similar gameplay mechanics. Additions include Shay’s ship, the Morrigan (which is smaller than Edward Kenway’s Jackdaw as to navigate smaller waterways such as rivers), air rifles, and grenade launchers. Gameplay videos have also shown various environments the player may get to explore, The Arctic, for example. The game is also said not to have any multiplayer or co-op modes, with a seemingly exclusive focus on the single-player campaign.
How will the various changes and additions to Assassin’s Creed Rogue affect the traditional Assassin’s Creed experience? Gamers will get to find out for themselves when Assassin’s Creed Rogue releases on November 11th, 2014.
