Assassin’s Creed Unity’s Patch 4 brings forth new issues on Xbox One

Asssassin's Creed Unity Patch 4 brings new problems to Xbox One

Ubisoft has recently released the latest patch (known as Patch 4) for Assassin’s Creed Unity, stating that it would fix most of the game’s remaining issues. However, it seems that Patch 4 brings about a much larger issue (literally) – especially in regards to Xbox One owners.

The company has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s Patch 4 may unintentionally require a 40GB download, rather than the patch’s actual 6.7GB size – it appears that an issue with the patch’s downloading protocol is causing the system to replace the entire game, rather than the parts affected by the patch.

According to Ubisoft, the only way to resolve the issue (at this time) is to uninstall the game completely, and subsequently reinstall it.

Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s Patch 4 Brings Another Issue

Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed Unity Patch 4 Xbox One issue

Ubisoft had the following to say regarding Assassin’s Creed Unity’s Xbox One issue:

We have received and confirmed reports that some Xbox One players who have previously applied Patch 3 are seeing a 40GB download instead of the expected 6.7GB download.

Unfortunately, an issue with the patch downloading process is replacing the entire game instead of just the parts affected by the patch. This is obviously not the expected behavior, and we apologize that many of you will have to wait longer than expected to complete this download. This issue isn’t causing any other problems and once the download is completed players will have the most-up-to-date and fully patched version of Assassin’s Creed Unity.

We are working with Microsoft on a solution to reduce the total download to the intended size so that you can get back into the game faster, but as of now we have no ETA on when this will be resolved.

Currently there is one known workaround: Owners of the disc version of the game can uninstall the game and reinstall it. On starting the game, the patch process will start with the correct download size.”

It appears that the issue is isolated to Xbox One version of the game, with no reports of an identical issue on the PlayStation 4 iteration.
