UPDATE: The marathon is now over and AGDQ 2015 has raised over $1.1 Million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Congrats to everyone involved!
Beyond simply beating games to their completion, there is speedrunning: A play style that consists of playing through a video game as fast as possible by implementing skill, speed and glitch exploitation. For over 4 years now, the Speed Demos Archives and Speed Runs Live communities have been hosting speedrunning marathons for charity with some of the best speed runners in the entire world. Awesome Games Done Quick 2015, the annual Winter Games Done Quick event, hopes to crush last year’s $1 000 000 donation total (that’s right, $1 Million) by showcasing some of the best speedruns for your amusement.
Starting today, January 4, at 12:00pm Eastern Time/11:00am Central Time/3:00pm Pacific Time all the way until January 10 over at GamesDoneQuick.com and on the GamesDoneQuick Twitch channel, AGDQ 2015 will be raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports cancer prevention research, education, advocacy and outreach programs nationwide that play a pivotal role in developing body of knowledge and early detection.
