Awesome Games Done Quick Charity Stream Raises Over $1 Million

by GH Staff

The recently concluded Awesome Games Done Quick charity stream has raised over $1 million in donations that will be used towards cancer prevention research.

Awesome Games Done Quick is a bi-annual charity stream that happens in January and during the summer to raise money for various charity organizations.

Both charity streams are week long events that feature many popular video game titles being speed ran, with donation incentives spread throughout the week that feature customized video game items, bundles of video game titles, and more being raffled to the donators.

This year’s January event started on January 4th with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze being the first title played, and the last day was January 11th with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as the final game played.

In the end, the event ended up having (at the time of this writing) 29,636 donors, 38,994 donations, and $1,555,762.41 raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Their initial goal was to raise $1,000,000, which was more than exceeded.

The next week long streaming charity will be dubbed Summer Games Done Quick, and will start sometime in July. Those wishing to see archival videos from this year’s January event can click here for all the videos available at this time.
