[dropcap size=dropcap]I[/dropcap] think about 15 years (or even more) have passed since I first laid my hands on a Tamgotchi and, to be honest, I did not imagine at that time that this gadget would last for so many years. However, the gadget celebrates its 17th birthday this year and therefore, Bandai will release a brand new updated model.
While Bandai is still refusing to make the transition to the most actual and up to date color panels, the latest Tamagotchi will be part of a limited edition called Tamagotchi Friends. Basically, you will still have the duty to play with your pet virtually, to clean up after it and give it food, but when another pet comes around, things will change drastically.
Tamagotchi Friends Edition allows owners of virtual pets to interact with each other through their gadgets. Thus, when two Tamagotchi get into contact, the two pets are able to play together and engage in many other activities.
“Bandai’s all new, interactive Tamagotchi Friends Digital Friends are not the same old Tamagotchi’s their parents grew up with! Featuring fashionable trend-inspired designs on the outside, new characters to hatch and raise, along with new experiences on the inside! All new short range communication where you can bump another Tamagotchi Friends Digital Friends to go on play dates, share texting, games and more! Kids can connect their Digital Friends with their real life friends for a deeper Tamagotchi experience” said the official news letter published on www.tamagotchifriends.com.
Regarding the future of the Tamagotchi devices, Bandai promises to release a line of color screen gadgets but no sooner than the autumn of 2014. The new Friends series will be released in December 2013. If you are fans of the Tamagotchi pets and want to remember the days of your childhood when such devices were more popular than ever, you may still be able to care for your pet even on your Android powered mobile phone or tablet. Search for the Tamagotchi app and be amazed! It is developed by Namco Bandai as the official gadget but it is more accessible if you already own an Android device.
