The two new additions to the tablet line of Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 and the 8.3 have been announced earlier this year and were released just a few weeks ago. However, even though they feature new hardware are they the most powerful tablets which you can get in their price range?

Design & Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 is the 10 inch version of the tablet and closely resembles its predecessors when it comes to design. It is 9.57 x 6.75 x 0.29 inches in size, but manages to regain a low weight for a tablet of only 469 grams. The smart device features two quad core processors, one running at 1.9GHz and the other at 1.3 GHz similar to the Galaxy S4 smartphone. The GPU is Mali-T628 MP6 giving the tablet amazing graphical capabilities. The CPU and the graphic processors are backed up by an Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipset and 2 GB of RAM.

Display & Sound
As Samsung are a huge manufacturing company the amazing display doesn’t come out as a huge surprise. The device manages to pretty tightly fit a 10.1 inch display with an overall resolution of 2560 x 1600 at 299 ppi pixel density. With its super clear technology, the display not only shows amazing color dense content, but also is visible regardless of the environmental lightning conditions. Moreover, the Samsung TouchWiz UI and the technology behind it let the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 support multitouch recognizing up to ten fingers.

Camera
Even though cameras are usually not the strong suits of tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 features a 8 MP camera that captures photos with astonishing quality and lets you record videos at 1080p and 30 FPS. The secondary camera is 2MP neatly placed on the left side of the device, letting people enjoy video conferencing at 1080p and 30 FPS when the device is tilted.

Battery Life
Even though the battery featured on the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 is non-removable it is a Li-Ion 8220 mAh and is powerful enough to let you enjoy various tasks for long periods of time. When used extensively for multimedia and gaming the tablet has an average battery life of 10 hours, but when you use the device only for music playback it is able to withstand over 130 hours.

Overall
Even though the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 isn’t as innovative as its predecessors were for their time, it is a powerful tablet that features and amazing combination of hardware features and software capabilities. With its powerful battery, the smart device proves to be a nice companion during long trips and its design makes it perfect for any lifestyle.

Even though the pro edition of the second line of tablets from Microsoft hit the market back in October, 2013 most tech geeks that are fans of the device say that it is able to compete with the latest tablets released on the mobile market today. However, even though its price is reasonable, could the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 actually stand out when it comes to specifications?

Design & Specifications
Closely resembling its predecessor, the Microsoft Surface 2 Pro is the more powerful version of the second version of the Surface tablets line. Even though its sleek and stylish design with a built-in stand and a removable keyboard is perfect, when the device is used as a laptop, being 10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53 inches in size and about 907 grams in weight makes it a bit tiresome to the hands when used extensively as a tablet. However, the Surface Pro 2 is perfect for those who seek true hardware power as it features 4 GB of ram, Intel Core i5 4200U dual core processor, Intel HD Graphics 4400 GPU and 64 GB of internal storage.

Display & Sound
The display of the Microsoft Surface 2 Pro is the second setback of the device. Even though it offers true HD quality at 1920 x 1080 pixels as it is 10.6 inches in size it has pretty low density of only 208 ppi. Even though it has a light sensor, which adjust the brightness automatically according to the lightning conditions the device is not as bright when used outdoors under bright sunlight. On the other hand, the sound of the smart device is quite clear and robust, letting you enjoy movies while carefully placing it on its stand and letting your hands rest for a while.

Camera
The camera of the Microsoft Surface 2 Pro is yet another setback for the device. Even though it lets you record videos at 720p at 30FPS, it lacks autofocus and flash, thus making it usable only in situations when you desperately need to capture the moment, but don’t have any other device available. The front facing camera is pretty decent letting you enjoy video conferencing, but its quality is not that great as well.

Battery Life
The battery life of the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is improved compared to its predecessor and takes only 2 to 4 hours to charge. Moreover, if you want a few additional hours of battery life you can use Microsoft’s Power Cover that is especially designed for the Surface line of tablets.

Overall
Even though when compared to other tablets, the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 may seem to lack at certain features as the camera and the screen quality, what truly makes the smart device stand out is its hardware capabilities. With its unique design, even though a bit heavier, you will be able to enjoy some of the latest games as well as powerful software applications making the tablet the perfect choice for those who focus on hardware power.
