Battlefield 4 PC Patch Available, Naval Strike DLC Coming Late March

by GH Staff
Battlefield 4's Naval Strike DLC is coming in late March.

While DICE has begun working on DLC again, Battlefield 4 is still far from the perfect shooter that fans were promised. While patches have rolled out across all systems for most of the severe problems (i.e. the infamous “no health” glitch, loading screen music loop, etc.), the PC version suffers from a few balance and physics-bases issues.

A new Battlefield 4 patch was released on Thursday, addressing a massive plethora of weapon and vehicle balancing problems, HUD items not displaying correctly, and problems with physics and destruction effects. Spectator Mode received several tweaks, including a fix for the visibility of the EMP/Proxy effect, the removal of individual Squad colors, and decreased “user interface clutter” with the removal of Health and Ammo Pack icons. For grenades, players can now have a maximum of 3 M84 Flashbangs and Hand Flares that they can carry, the maximum damage of the RGO has been increased to 80, and the V40 Mini’s effect and damage have been reduced to 60. Pistols have also received updates, with an accuracy increase for the M1911, and a trigger delay decrease for the M412 Rex and .44 Magnum. Several other tweaks have also been added; the expansive list of changes can be found on Battlelog.

While there’s no release date, the Naval Strike DLC will launch later this month. The third Battlefield 4 expansion will include Carrier Assault, a tribute to the Titan mode found in Battlefield 2142. Both teams are placed on warring aircraft carriers in the South China Sea, with the main objective being to destroy the opposing carrier. The match begins with the two teams racing to capture and control missile launchers placed around the map. Once captured, missiles will rain down on the opposing carrier throughout the match. Once the hull is destroyed, players can storm the interior of the enemy carrier, in search of two M-COM stations. Carrier Assault matches are won by either destroying both stations, or bringing the hull health down to 0%.

Battlefield 4 Naval Strike will add four new water-based maps, new vehicles and more weapons. The new DLC will not have any form of console-priority with its release, but as with the other DLCs, Naval Strike will be available for Premium members first.

Those of you who have stuck beside Battlefield 4 despite all of its problems, will you be getting this new DLC upon launch? As Carrier Assault is a homage to Battlefield 2142, how would you feel if DICE ever developed another game within the 2142 universe?
