Logging onto Origin a few minutes ago to play Battlefield 4 I noticed something peculiar. EA has games on sales like hotcakes.

The initial ad for Battlefield Blowout features a promising 70% off titles. Its a little misleading. It is only up to 70% off. So few games are actually that cheap, but there are still a lot of bargains here. Battlefield 4 is down to $20, which matches the GameStop Summer sale price. However, the GameStop Sale ends today. Battlefield 3 is $6, which is a huge steal. All Battlefield DLC is $4 or $5 off. The Mass Effect Trilogy is $15 and various other games like Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3 are half off at $10.

So, all in all compared to Steam and the GameStop Summer Sale the deals aren’t the best you’ve ever seen as a whole. However, considering EA is usual such a penny pincher, the chance to grab these games at lower costs is nice. If you missed a popular title years ago like the original Crysis or Mirror’s Edge then now is a great time to buy them. Despite the age of those games they are pretty much $20 everywhere.

Despite EA’s horrible reputation (I have a friend who has boycotted the company since Need for Speed Shift) the publisher has been coming through lately with some good deals, game delays (for good reasons), events like Battlefest, and GameTime, which lets you try a full game for free before you decide to buy it.

Does any of this change your mind about EA? Or are they forever Hellspawn in your eyes? Let me know in the comments below!

Beware: there is no indication of when this sale ends. It could be a week long. It could end today. Make up your mind fast!
