Infamously-hard NES game Battletoads may be seeing a revival sometime soon.
You hear that, 4chan? You might just get to pre-order Battletoads after all.
Microsoft has gone out of their merry way, dropped a stop at the U.S. copyright office, and filed for the trademark for Battletoads.
While they have refused to comment on the possibility of a re-release/reboot of Battletoads, the trademark taken out is specifically for “entertainment services” and “games software”.
Frankly, after owning Rare studios for so long, I’m surprised a reboot of one of their classic games is only being considered now. What’s the matter Microsoft? Don’t you think their half-assed Kinect games will sell? Furthermore, after your little stunt at E3, I think people would be more likely to buy a Conker’s Bad Fur Day reboot or re-release rather than a Battletoads reboot. This is of course assuming the latter is going to happen, but hey, if I’m known for anything, I’m sure its my optimism and being devoid of cynicism whatsoever.
