The release of Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus has found great success with critics and fans alike infatuated with the bigger model, even at its price tag. The LED-backlit 5.5 inch IPS LCD display provides an impressive 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and 401ppi pixel density that is much higher than previous Apple models. The home button is integrated with a fingerprint sensor that enables people to make easy purchases using their Apple Pay System. Fitted with its own A8 chipset combined with its dual-core Cyclone processor that clocks at 1.4GHz. However, it only provides a RAM capacity of 1GB and comes in three variants of 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB of internal memory capacity. The iPhone 6 Plus is fitted with 8MP rear camera that comes with cool features such as optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, and several others. Apple has improved its battery capacity on this model as it last up to 24 hours of talk time with its 2915mAH battery. Initially released on the iOS 8, it has already released the 8.0.2 update.
So for those that don’t want to pay the high price tag, let us look at some other smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Samsung has released on of their best phones to date. The Galaxy Note 4 has fitted its 5.7 Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology, which supports its 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and 515ppi pixel density. It also comes with a home button that is integrated with a fingerprint sensor, and an S Pen Stylus that has been greatly improved.
The Galaxy Note 4 runs on a faster quad-core Krait 450 processor coupled with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset that clocks at 2.7GHz. The 3GB of RAM makes for a sufficient internal memory storage of 32GB. You also have the option of expanding the memory capacity up to 128GB thanks to the microSD card slot.
Fitted on the rear is its 16MP camera that allows for great quality photos, and while talking on the phone, it can last you up to 20 hours with the Li-Ion 3220mAH battery. The phone runs on the latest Android KitKat v4.4.4.
HTC One M8
For this device, the Super LCD3 display is only 5 inches, but it provides 1080×1920 pixel resolution and 441ppi pixel density. Under the hood the device operates on Snapdragon 801 chipset coupled with a Qualcomm MSM874AB that is supported by a quad-core processor that offers 2GB of RAM, and clocks at 2.3GHz. The dual 4MP rear camera is fitted with its 5MP front-facing camera. The 2600mAH battery is non-removable and runs on Android KitKat v4.4.2 which can be upgraded to v4.4.3. The HTC One M8 provides two variants of internal memory capacity of 16GB and 32GB, which can be expanded up to 128GB with microSD card slot.
Xiaomi Mi4
Released in August, the Xiaomi Mi4 provides an IPS LCD 5 inch display provides similar pixel density and resolution as the HTC One M8. The 3080mAh non-removable battery powers the fast 2.5GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor coupled with a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801, with a RAM capacity of 3GB. The Xiaomi provides a rear camera with 13MP and front camera with 8MP. The two variants have internal memory storage of 16GB and 64GB which no option for expansion. It operates on Android KitKat v4.4.3.
Sony Xperia Z3
Sony’s Xperia Z3 offers many of the same features from its predecessor, but with more improvements. The waterproof, slimmer model is supported by the 2.5GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor coupled with a Snapdragon 801 and Qualcomm MSM8974AC chipset. It operates on 3GB of RAM and the latest Android KitKat v4.4.4. The 5.2 inch IPS LCD display provides a luminous 1080×1920 resolution and 422ppi pixel density. It has one of the best resolutions with its 20.7MP rear camera and the front 2.2MP camera for quality photos. The non-removable 3100mAH battery provides up to 16 hours of talk time.
OnePlus One
OnePlus One is another popular alternative with an LTPS LCD 5.5 inch display it has the same resolution as the Xperia Z3, but a lower pixel density of 401ppi. It runs on a quad-core Krait 400 processor supported by a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset that clocks at 2.5GHz and the RAM capacity of 3GB. It runs on Android KitKat v4.4.2 but can be upgraded to KitKat v4.4.4. It offers great cameras with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP camera in the front. The 3100mAH non-removable battery provides a nice battery life for talk time and phone usage.
