EGM Now has revealed that a brand new Friday the 13th video game is being developed.
The EGM Now article details that the title will feature a “co-operative and competitive multiplayer predator/prey horror experience” that will have a small group of survivors going up against a single player controlled Jason Voorhees.
Speaking to Sean Cunningham, the creator of the original Friday the 13th film, some details on the direction the game will be taking were given:
“With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form.
“We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect.”
While the developer has yet to be revealed, Cunningham did give hints that a game studio with experience is heading up development on the title.
Friday the 13th The Video Game will be released for “multiple platforms” this October, presumedly just in time for Halloween.
