[dropcap size=dropcap]M[/dropcap]ore than one year ago, Revolution Software confirmed what many fans of the Broken Sword series had already suspected: Charles Cecil and his team are working on the fifth game of the series Broken Sword 5 the Serpent’s Curse. After failing to transpose the game to a three-dimensional environment, (their results are outcomes rather unfortunate Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon and Broken Sword: The Angel of Death) the studio Revolution Software will return to the classical concept of a two-dimensional adventure game for their future Broken Sword 5 the Serpent’s Curse.
Consequently, Cecil brought back to Software Revolution Studio much of the old team who worked on the first two games, and new artists recruited from other experienced studios that will work on the 2D artwork and animation (Disney, DreamWorks, Nickelodeon, Universal, Sony and 20th Century Fox). It has also been brought to our attention that actor Rolf Saxon (voice of the main character George Stobbart in all other games of the series) will be playing his part in Broken Sword 5. Unfortunately, at first, Revolution Software did not have the funds required to complete the game. Instead, they chose to create a Kickstarter campaign and ask the fans to support the team. The majority of the funding for the game was already raised through Kickstarter, (over $823,000 together with PayPal donations) and therefore, the game will eventually be released this year.
Those who participated at the Kickstarter campaign were able to pre-order the first episode of the game at a price of 9.99£. Broken Sword 5 the Serpent’s Curse will arrive later this year, on December 4 2013 for PC users (Windows / OS X / Linux). An Android version of the game will also be released in the first months of the next year.
Broken Sword 5 the Serpent’s Curse will mark the return of the series to the classic two-dimensional environment and to a traditional point and click gameplay. Actor Rolf Saxon returns in the role of George Stobbart, the main protagonist of the story. Below, you can watch the latest trailer of Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse.
