California Forcing Coding Bootcamps To Get Licensed

by GH Staff

Last month, the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) sent cease and desist letters to several coding bootcamps. These include the Hackbright Academy, Hack Reactor, App Academy, and Zipfian Academy. The BPPE, which is a unit under the California Department of Consumer Affairs, is saying that said bootcamps are under their jurisdiction thus they need to be licensed.hackbright academy

The said unit was created in 2010 with the passing of the California Private Postsecondary Education Act of 2009 into law. The said body was charged with overseeing postsecondary schools operating in California.

The aforementioned bootcamps providing education have yet to seek license from the BPEE thus the cease and desist letters. The coding camps in question have come out saying that they will be working with the BPPE to resolve the issue.
