[dropcap size=dropcap]J[/dropcap]ust yesterday we reported the blockbuster news that Call of Duty: Ghosts managed to rake in $1 billion in sales from game-copies sold to retailers. While we have no doubts that those copies will eventually make it into the homes of hard-core FPS and Call of Duty fans all over the world, this bit of news might come off as a bit shocking to the community at large.
There has been a YouTube video posted that shows similar animation scenes from Modern Warfare 2 that has been bundled off with the latest shooter from Activision. Developer Infinity Ward has been known to work tremendous hard on all its projects and hence this piece of news has managed to raise quite a few eyebrows on them.
In the video below, we see stunning similarities in the cutscene animation of this game to Modern Warfare 2, wherein an unidentified soldier can be seen running across the battlefield to help another fellow soldier. This is in fact the exact same way that MW2 had ended in which Captain Price helps John “Soap” MacTavish after he has been stabbed by Shephard.

The only differences in the cutscene from the current game are the clothes of the characters and the mode of extraction of the wounded soldier. While in MW2, a helicopter 2 was featured in the end to help out Soap and Price, in Ghosts, a truck has been sent in.
In the defence of Infinity Ward, we would like to point out that many times, various in-game animations get re-used. Developing a game can be very time-consuming and hence developers resort to re-using certain game assets to speed up the development time.
However all of that is supposed to happen in subtle ways and should not jump up to the player’s notice on first viewing. This trick pulled by the developer seems anything but subtle. We would love to hear what you think of this story. Please leave your comments below.
