Call of Duty 2014, also known as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (still think it’s a terrible name) has been somewhat officially announced. I’m saying somewhat, since the official announcement was planned for Sunday, yet the game’s trailer, featuring Kevin Spacey, has been leaked ahead of time. If you’ve seen the trailer, you probably noticed the blatant and in-your-face Xbox One publicity stunt. Oh well, Activision must surely be starving for cash, because previous Call of Duty titles sold so poorly. Oh wait, no they didn’t! In any case, the Xbox One and Xbox 360 won’t be the only versions to get a Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
The logical line-up for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare would have been a PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC version. It seems this will be exactly the case, as Amazon has listed the titles for these platforms. Unfortunately, no signs of a Nintendo Wii U version were revealed, but then again, the Wii U was never a primary choice for FPS games. Visually, Advanced Warfare seems to step up its game considerably, and the game looks a lot better than previous titles. However, it’s not a jewel of engineering and developing, and there are still areas where the game seems to be lackluster. Developing a game with the Xbox 360 and PS3 in mind are most likely the cause for this. On the bright-side, if you’re a CoD fan, you don’t need to worry about upgrades, and PC users should rest easy too. Call of Duty games are known to run well even on mediocre systems.
The game is set for a 4th of November release date, and will focus on Kevin Spacey’s character, as the power-hungry figure strives to take down the US government and seize power for himself. Your job will most likely be to take him out. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare gives you some cool weapons and gadgets to make sure you can take him and his mercenaries out. The most notable is the Exo-Suit, which provides some sort of free-running abilities. How well these will fit within the game’s inevitable multiplayer mode remains to be seen. Are you picking up 2014’s Call of Duty, or did you have enough after Ghosts?
