Yesterday, a user on NeoGAF posted some information from the official Dragon’s Dogma website that flew under the radar.
The news from the official Dragon’s Dogma website states. “Devil May Cry? Dragon’s Dogma 2 ? What could this be? What are you hoping for?“
The news published on the official Dragon’s Dogma website was published 11.26.2014. Remember when Ono stated ” if a game doesn’t sell over 2 million copies, then we’d have to put the brakes on any plans for a sequel.” By using Ono’s logic DMC would not receive a sequel, DMC as of June 2014 has only sold 1.6 million copies. Dragon’s Dogma on the other hand has sold only 1.3 million copies as of September, 30th 2013, not including the sales of Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen.
What do you think? Is this purely speculation by reading too much into news posted on the official Dragon’s Dogma website? Is Capcom creating a new IP instead of releasing a sequel to DMC and Dragon’s Dogma? Only time can tell, perhaps more will be learned at the upcoming Decmember Las Vegas convention.
