We don’t have an exact release date yet (apart from “fall 2014”), but it seems we finally have a box art for Dragon Age: Inquisition. Bioware revealed the game’s upcoming box art via a Twitter post, and boy, has this sort of artwork been missed. There has been a tendency to move away from quality artwork when boxing games in recent years, and it has become increasingly rare to stumble upon quality artwork, even in the RPG genre. Dragon Age: Inquisition erases all that sort of negativity with one firm swoop, showing off artwork that is reminiscent of the good old years of 80’s and 90’s pen and paper RPGs.
From the colors to the gender-neutral protagonist, everything seems to fit. It’s not too revealing, it just sets a mood and a theme, as any quality artwork should. “They say only the Inquisitor has the power to stop it…” is the message associated with the new image, and while we don’t know what that “it” is, we’re certainly eager to find out. Perhaps more developers and publishers should take notes and stop spoiling every detail before we get to play the game, eh? The omission of a certain gender as a protagonist is a nice touch, considering that Dragon Age 2 was heavily marketed around a male protagonist. This time around, the story is centered around whoever you want to be. The protagonist will be an Inquisitor, and that’s pretty much all we know.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is set to release this fall for multiple platforms, specifically the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC. The exact release date and more in-game footage will most likely be revealed at this year’s E3, taking place in June. What do you think about the box art? It definitely stirred some emotions and brought back nostalgic feelings for us!
