Check out the system requirements for Wolfenstein: The New Order

Bethesda’s Wolfenstein: The New Order is closing in on its release. Just 3 weeks from now, we’ll get the chance to play as B.J. Blazkowicz once more. As the latest trailer for the game revealed, this time around, players that prefer a more tactile approach can shed away the obvious carnage and take out opponents in a much stealthier, but equally deadly way. Regardless, if you’re planning on picking up the game, you should be aware of what exactly you’ll need under the hood to play it at stable frame-rates. Bethesda revealed the system requirements, and they seem to be relatively accessible:

PC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • 64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
  • Intel Core i7 or equivalent AMD
  • 4 GB System RAM
  • 50 GB free HDD space
  • GeForce 460, ATI Radeon HD 6850
  • High Speed Internet Connection
  • Steam account and activation required

It’s unclear if these are minimum or recommended system requirements, but they are likely to be the latter. It’s however doubtful that that such a setup would run the game at 60 FPS and 1080p with all details maxed out. You’ll likely need a better graphics card to achieve stable, high frame-rates at maxed out settings. To get the most out of the game, we’re guessing that a Geforce 750 Ti/270X might be the least you’ll need. On the bright-side, you’re most likely going to be fine with an i5 CPU, and perhaps even with a better i3. If however you’re planning on picking up the console version, this is what you’ll need to be mindful of:

PlayStation 4

  • Hard Drive Requirements:  8 GB HDD minimum and ~47 GB for total install
  • Voice Commands optional

Xbox One

  • Hard Drive requirements: 8 GB minimum and ~47 GB total install
  • Kinect support for Voice  Commands (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish only)

Xbox 360

  • Hard Drive requirements: 8 GB minimum
  • Game includes 4 discs, including the first disc that is a mandatory installation disc.

PlayStation 3

  • Hard Drive requirements for disc play: 8 GB HDD space
  • Hard Drive requirements for PSN download: 17 GB HDD space

Does that sound reasonable? If you’re planning on picking Wolfenstein: The New Order up, you can still pre-order the game. It’s available on Steam should you want the PC version. Pre-Ordering will grant you access to the upcoming Doom beta, the date of which has not been announced yet.
