In Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, every player is given a whole new arsenal of futuristic weaponry, and in this new video from Sledgehammer Games we get a deeper insight into what that includes. Co-founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey give us a rundown on the game’s many features, claiming (likely previously stated) that all the tech is based in realism.
New gadgets in Advanced Warfare include the threat detection grenade which highlights enemies in the nearby area, very similar to the ‘Oracle’ killstreak effect from Call of Duty: Ghosts that reveals enemies behind walls. Also included is the mobile barricade, a massive shield that is synced to the player and moves as they do, and it lowers the top part to allow them to shoot.
The Exoskeleton suit abilities are highlighted in this video as well, revealing that players will be able to run faster, jump higher, use more force in melee, have the ability to cloak and the use of a mode called Overdrive. Overdrive is part of the new abilities that the Exo suit will have and it makes the player faster, slowing down the motion of the game for precise aiming. This mechanic is similar to the ‘bullet time’ mechanics in other games and has also been featured during the slow motion breach sections of previous Call of Duty games. These suit abilities could be vast and varied, allowing each player to fully customize how they play in a multiplayer match and in campaign, which adds a new dimension of strategy to the game. It will be exciting to see what abilities are available in the full game. Watch the trailer below to see the full details.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launches on November 4 2014 for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
