Codemasters forced to give refunds for Colin McRae Rally due to misleading trailers
Despite only being released last week Codemaster have announced that they’re going to be giving refunds for Colin McRae Rally on Steam. Codemaster have been forced to give out these refunds to gamers till August 19th as an attempt to “restore lost faith” after fans bought the game expecting to play a Colin McRae Rally HD remake and instead got a port of a iOS game.
The reason behind all this was that up till now all the advertising for the game in the trailers and in the Steam description pointed towards a HD remake, it didn’t help that the trailer for the game said that “The Legend Returns” and “Re-mastered for HD”. Instead they were tricked into buying a game with only 4 cars, very little tracks and next to no customisation.
The refunds will be able till August 19th and the Refund button will be in your account transaction page. Since this has happened Codemasters have also slightly changed the Steam page.
It’s not often you hear about developers giving refunds on Steam and in the case of Colin McRae Rally, they really should have been more open about what the game was instead of using phrases like “The Legend Returns”.
