The Nikon D4 has been on a wave of popularity as the Expeed 4 processor powered DSLR powerful camera has been a hit with users. However, Canon EOS 1D X, is still a viable competitor, despite its age.
Design

With an 18.1MP camera, the Canon EOS-1D X provides a 24 x 36 mm full ram CMOS sensor, which is superior to the Nikon’s 16.2MP full frame 36 x 23.9 mm CMOS sensor. While they both do a good job, both will obtain JPG and RAW sizes. The EOS-1D X will have the options of M-RAW while the D4s will create TIFF files.
The EOS-1D X uses an LP-E4N Li-ion unit that permits users to capture over 1800 shots. While the D4s can capture over 3020 shots with their EN-EL 18a Li-ion unit.
Camera Features
The Canon EOS-1D X provides 41 cross-type points, compared to 51AF points by Nikon D4s. In order capture clear pictures, the camera must have an adequate autofocus feature in which Nikon excels.
Processor
Powered by the Expeed 4 processor, the D5s is very fast. The EOS-1D X is powered by a Dual Digic 5+ image processor, in which they are able to support 12fps of shooting continuously. While the D4 can capture an average of 11fps of continuous shooting. THe Nikon provides a resolution of 4928 x 3280 pixels, while the 1D X has a 5184 x 3456 resolution.
Audio and Video Recording
On both devices, you will get an output video of MPEG-5 and H.265. As the Canon EOS 1D-X restricts you to only 30/25/24p, the D4s allows you to shoot at 50p and 60p. You have more shooting options such as HD and image area on the Nikon device. However, both have manual and auto control levels for audio.
So overall if you want a newer model the Nikon device is for you, but don’t count the Canon device out.
