Riding high off of the newest Android L update, Google has outfitted their latest phablet with a QHD technology for their massive display on the Nexus 6. The latest edition for the NExus family, Motorola’s contribution is sure to be a success for the companies.
Layout
In comparing the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 5, you will see how they differ from each other. Looking at the display size, the Nexus 5 measures 4.95 inches, while the Google Nexus 6 increases to 5.96 inches. They increased the premium quality of the phablet by giving it a metallic frame with a better chassis to surround the QHD display. The Nexus 6 is available in two versions white and blue, which mirror the elements of the Moto X 2014. The sizes of the bezels have been reduced to make the phablet more portable.
Fans used to the smaller size of the Nexus 5, were shocked to see the bigger Nexus 6. While some users like huge phones to play games and watch movies, some still prefer the smaller size.
The Nexus 6 is much thicker than its predecessor by 1.5 mm, while the Nexus 5 has a width of 8.6 mm with a flat back.
Screens
The True HD IPS display found on the Nexus 5 provides a pixel density of 445ppi, and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. While the Nexus 6 upgrades to a Super AMOLED QHD display that has an increased pixel density of 493 ppi and resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. Found on the Note 4 and the LG G3, QHD panels are all the rage in 2014. However, the issue with QHD is that it drains the battery at a faster rate, which means a larger battery is required.
Hardware
The Nexus 5 provides a quad-core Qualcomm MSM874 Snapdragon 800 that clocks at 2.3GHz. WHile the Nexus 6 upgrades to a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 and a Krait 450 CPu, that clocks at 2.7 GHz. The Nexus 6 upgrades from an Adreno 330 GPU to an Adreno 420 GPU, so it still provides a good performance. The Nexus 6 comes with a RAM capacity of 3GB and has two memory variants of 32GB and 64GB, an upgrade from 16GB and 32GB offered by the Google Nexus 5.
Battery
The non-removable battery of the Google Nexus 6 is an upgrade of over 1000mAh than its predecessor. The 3220mAh battery provides over 24 hours of talk time for the 3G network.
Camera
The Nexus 6 upgrades from the 8MP camera found on the Nexus 5 to a 13MP camera. It features dual-LED Flash, optical image stabilization, 4K video recording, and much more that is also found on the NExus 5.
Price
The Nexus 6 is available for $650 in the US, and it will cost you $800 in the UK. On Amazon, you are able to get the 32GB Nexus 5 for around $480.
