Comparing HTC Desire Eye Vs Motorola DROID Turbo

Released last month the Motorola DROID Turbo, will compete with the November release of the HTC Desire Eye. So before you decide which one to make a purchase on, let’s examine what we are working with.

Dimensions, Displays, and Designs

The two-toned plastic chassis from the HTC Desire Eye makes it standout. Along with the right side shutter button for the button, it provides a comfortable grip with its rounded and thick edges. It measures 151.7 x 73.8 x 8.5 mm and weighing only 154 grams. The display measures 5.2 inches and provides a higher 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and 424 ppi pixel density. The phone is protected from dust and water to the interior and exterior.

The DROID Turbo provides the same display size, but 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution that is much higher, and the same pixel density. It is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology and is protected from water. It measures 143.5 x 73.3 x 8.3 and weighs only 169 grams. It is outfitted with black ballistic nylon for its back panel and a metalized finish for the larger 64GB.

OS and Hardware

Powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Krait 450 processor, the Droid Turbo clocks at 2.7GHz and provides an Adreno 420 GPU for its graphics. The HTC Desire Eye is powered by a quad-core Krait 400 Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 that clocks at 2.3GHz and uses an Adreno 330 GPU. It has a RAM capacity of 2GB, while the Droid Turbo has a RAM capacity of 3GB. The advantage goes to the Desire Eye with only 16GB, but expandable memory up to 128GB. The Droid Turbo provides to variants of 32GB and 64GB, with no options to expand.

The Motorola device, however is planning to receive the new Android 5.0 Lollipop, while operating now on the KitKat v4.4.4. The Desire Eye uses the HTC Sense 6 UI along with the KitKat v4.4.2.

Camera

For selfie lovers, the Desire Eye is a dream come true. With a 13MP back and front camera, it has a high-resolution that offers dual-LED flash. The Droid Turbo tops its competitor with a back 21MP camera; that also offers dual-LED flash, however only a 2MP front camera. The Desire Eye provide nice features that include Split Capture, which takes a picture from the rear camera and the front, to split into two. Overlap, photo-shopping and crop me in features.

Battery

Both devices offer a non-removable battery, with the Droid Turbo having the biggest to last up to two days using their 3900mAh battery. The Desire Eye provides up to 20 hours with their 2400mAH battery.

Notable Features

BoomSound speakers are featured on the Desire Eye along with their selfie camera are three mics.

The Droid uses a military grade material design that support their wireless charging.

Both device support 4G LTE, NFC, and nano-SIM support. While the Droid Turbo also support infrared port.

Price

The Droid Turbo through Verizon is priced at $199 for the 32GB, and the 64GB priced at $249. The Desire Eye is priced at $660, with a contract.
