The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and the Huawei Ascend P7 are some of Huawei’s most brilliant smartphone that have come on the market this year. They both have upgraded their quality and features, and while they are similar to some, they do offer some differences. So let’s take a gander a what makes them different.

1. Screen

Both devices use a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protected IPS LCD capacity touchscreen.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has a 6 inch display, while the Huawei Ascend P7 has a 5 inch display. However, the resolution is the same with 1080 x 1920 pixels. But the clarity found on the Mate 7 is better with 441 ppi pixel density, compared to 368 ppi found on the P7.

2. Size

Weighing 185 grams, and dimensions of 6.18 x 3.19 x 0.31 the Mate 7 is a larger phone. The P7 weighs only 124 grams and has smaller dimensions of 5.50 x 2.71 x .26 inches.

3. Storage

They are two variants offered for the Mate 7, in 16 and 32GB that have 2GB and 3GB of RAM capacity.

The P7 had 2GB of RAM and was only offered in 16GB.
Both devices can be expanded with a microSD card for up to 32GB on the Mate 7, and up to 64GB on the P7.

4. Hardware

The Mate 7 has a HiSilicon Kirin 925 chipset. While a HiSilicon Kirin 910T is found on the P7.

The Mate 7 uses a quad-core Cortex A15 that has speeds of 1.8GHz. The P7 uses a quad-core Cortex A7 coupled with a Mali-T628, which speeds of 1.3GHz.

5. Software

Both phones use Android-based operating systems, with the P7 using KitKat v4.4.2, and the Mate 7 using KitKat v4.4.

The Mate 7 uses a Huawei Emotion UI 3.0, and a Huawei Emotion UI 2.3 is found on the P7.

6. Camera

For both phones, they have rear camera that provides 4160 x 3120 pixels on their 13MP camera.

They come with HDR, geo tagging, face detection, panorama, LED flash, and auto focus.

The Mate 7 has a 5MP front camera with 720 pixel resolution, and the P7 uses an 8MP front shooter.

For both, they offer 1080p@30fps for their video recording.

7. Battery

Each phone is powered by a non-removable Li-Po battery.

The Mate 7 far outceeds the battery capacity of the P7 with 4100mAh compared to 2500mAh.

The Mate 7 has almost 650 hours of talk time, and the P7 provides over 400 of talk time.

Conclusion

The Huawei Ascend P7 and the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 each has similar if not exact specifications. There is really no big differences that would distract any user. For the price, they provide a great phone with top-notch features, in which Huawei is surely winning.
