Comparing Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 3

This comparison is simple; you can either stick with the Galaxy Note 3 or choose to upgrade to the Galaxy Note 4.

Everyone knows by now that Samsung is one of the best in the smartphone market. Samsung has produced some of the best and innovative tablets and smartphones consistently.

The September 2013 launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 provided a new era of the phablet. Samsung Electronics marketed and manufactured the Android-based smartphone as one of their premier phablets.

Coming from their predecessor, the Galaxy Note II, the Note 3 weighs much lighter and provides a slicker design for their users.

It was only right that after the Galaxy Note 3 launch that Samsung would be working on their next addition to the family. Samsung just released the Galaxy Note 4 in stores coming with two variants. One variant of the Galaxy Note 4 provides a flat OLED design, while the second variant boast a curved OLED display.

The second curved OLED display version is marketed towards the mass markets while the first variant is targeted towards niche audiences. It is clear that the Galaxy Note line is one of the favorites from Samsung.

The Galaxy Note 4 is a sheer upgrade from its predecessor with a better operating system, additional features, and upgraded camera specifications. To illustrate the differences let’s compare.

Display, Dimensions, and Design

The chic design of the Galaxy Note 3 provides a lighter version than its previous editions. The Note 3 also comes in various colors, and was the first smartphone to have USB 3.0 support, which gives it faster data transfer, and fast charging capabilities. The dimensions include 151.2×79.2mm and weigh 168 grams. The 5.7inch Super AMOLED display provides 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and provides vibrant 16M colors to look awesome on the display. Much like other premium Samsung devices the screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology.

The Note 4 has a similar design with its faux-leather back panel to give it a classier look, it weights heavier than its predecessor. The Note 4 comes in two varieties of colors, and has the same 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display; that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. The 16MP rear camera provides an awesome upgrade from the Note 3’s 13MP rear camera. With features that include optic image stabilization, dual-LED flash, and great HDR image and video recording.

Software and Hardware

The Galaxy Note 3 is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset that clocks at 2.3GHz and offers a RAM capacity of 3GB.
The internal memory comes in two variants at 32GB and 64GB, with the options of expandable memory. It is juiced from its removable 3200mAh Li-Ion battery that provides up to 20 hours of talk time and 420 hours on standby. Like the other Notes it comes with the popular S Pen Stylus to meet the curved design, and runs on the Android Jelly Bean v4.3.

The Note 4 has improved these specs with updated software and hardware that clocks at a faster speed of 2.7GHz. You will find that the battery is nearly identical, but the Power Saving Mode offers the ability to last a full day with only 10% of battery life.

Price

You will be able to find the Galaxy Note 3 for $549. While the Galaxy Note 4 can be purchased for around $650, but really it’s worth it because the Galaxy Note 4 provides users with a better experience.
