The much-awaited sibling of iPhone 5S has finally reached the shelves of smartphone shops just a few weeks ago. There are two variants that Apple released– one comes with a 4.7-inch display and another with a bigger 5.5-inch screen size. If you are trying to decide whether or not to upgrade your current 5S to the latest offering of the smartphone giant, this article should help you make up your mind. We’ll take a closer look at the two handsets so keep reading.
Display and Design
Among those that are first noticed by the buying public about the phones seen on shelves are the designs and displays and many decide on which handset to buy based on appearance. The iPhone 6 weighs 129 grams, it measures 138x67x6.9mm with curved corners which assures its user of a comfortable phone calling experience. The iPhone 5S on the other hand comes with a 4-inch Retina display measuring 124x59x7.6mm with hard-edged corners. It is a bit uncomfortable when held.
Looking at the screen resolution section, the 5S supports a resolution of 1136×640 and a pixel density of 326ppi while the iPhone 6 is packed by Apple with 1334×750 and a pixel density which is the same with that of the 5S. The images for the iPhone 6 appear as more decent in different angles but the two phones are able to offer their users with crisp text and lively colors.
Camera and Operating System
It is the iPhone 6 which is the first model to run on the latest operating system of Apple which is the iOS 8 but of course, the iPhone 5S can be easily upgraded from the iOS 7 to the latest one. While there’s a third party keyboard support on the screen of the latest Apple flagship, many users still prefer the landscape mode of the 5S because they find it a lot easier than the new offering of the iOS 8.
As for the cameras system, it would not seem like Apple made changes to it but the iPhone 6 made some enhancements actually as it now has the Focus Pixels for assistance in quicker focus and image signal processor. This will prove to be of help in taking snaps for users with shaky hands which are not available in the 5S smartphone.
So, will you upgrade from the iPhone 5S to the iPhone 6? What you currently have is an excellent handset and you shouldn’t rush out with the upgrade but if you can afford and you want the cutting edge of technology then go ahead and buy the iPhone 6.
