Picking the right phone can be hard these days. There are so many smartphones to choose from it can be hard to tell which ones have the most to offer, last the longest or perform the best. Currently, the Nokia X2, Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 and Google 4 have been getting rave reviews. We will beak down what each of them has to offer and give you our recommendations to help make your phone shopping experience an easier one.
Design:
All three phones function on the Android 4.3 system, with the Nokia 2 also using their own Nokia X platform 2.0. In addition, the Nexus 4 is capable of operating on all Android systems, including the latest 4.4.4. They each have a slim, squarish shape with the Nokia X2 being the smallest at 4.79 x 2.69 x 0.44 inches and weighing 5.2 oz. The Google Nexus 4 is 5.27 x 2.70 x 0.36 inches and weighs 4.9 oz. There are currently no specs on the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 as far as size and weight.
Display:
In this category the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 wins in size st 5.9″. The Nexus 4 is much smaller at 4.7″ and the Nokia X2 is downright tiny measuring just 4.3″. The X2 is also somewhat lacking in resolution and density too with 480 x 800 res and 217 ppi, which means images may be slightly blurry in appearance. The Galaxy Mega 2, in comparison has a 720 x 1280 res and 249 ppi for vibrant, clear images and the Google Nexus 4 has the highest resolution, delivering 768 x 1280 res and 318 ppi for sharp, color-drenched pics and video. In addition, all 3 phones are quipped with multi-touch screens and have light and proximity sensors. The X2 and Nexus 4 have the added bonus of scratch- resistant screens.
Hardware:
Each phone sports different hardware, affecting speed and the ability to have multiple screens up at once. The Nokia X2 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 8210 and Dual core, 1200 MHz processor, making it the slowest of the 3. The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 comes in next with a slightly faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 8916 and Quad core, 1200 MHz. The Nexus 4 gives the best performance of the 3, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro and Quad core, 1500 MHz, so you can surf the net and have multiple windows open. The Nokia X2 also comes up short in the memory department with just 1024 MB RAM and 4 GB of built-in storage. The Galaxy Mega 2 and Nexus 4 both have double the capacity with 2048 MB RAM and built-in storage of 8 GB and 16 GB respectively.
Camera:
When it comes to quality cameras the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 is tops with 12 megapixels, so your pictures will look bright and you will clearly see every detail. The Google Nexus 4 follows at 8 megapixels and the Nokia X2 at 5 megapixels. In addition, both the Mega 2 and Nexus 4 sport a 1920×1080 (1080p HD) camcorder, the X2 has a 1280×720 (720p HD) recorder. The mega 2 also has the highest quality front facing camera at 5 megapixels; the Nexus 4 has 1.3 and the X2 just 0.3 VGA. All have auto focus, face detection, touch to focus, GEO tagging and more.
Battery:
At this time there are no specs on the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2’s battery, but of the X2 and Nexus 4 the Google has the advantage. The Google smartphone has 15.3 hours talk time and 2100 mAh capacity. The Nokia has 10 hours of talk time and a 1800 mAh capacity.
Overall, all three phones are a good investment, but the Google Nexus 4 is the best value. It is superior in performance and design, with faster processing and clearer imagery, making it worth the price tag. The Samsung Mega 2 might be a close second, but there is just not enough information at this time.
