Complete baseball games in a quick fashion in MLB 14 The Show!

Virtual sluggers itching to get a quicker game out of their baseball simulators are sure to knock it out of the park in the upcoming MLB14 The Show, as Game Designer and Community Specialist Ramone Russell reveals extra information regarding the Player Lock and Quick Count features today. As showcased in the gameplay trailer on the PlayStation blog, players who utilize the Player Lock and the Quick Counts options make for some speedy, fast-paced baseball gaming. This, of course, sacrifices a lot of regular cinematic sequences and other presentation quirks that usually come with a longer, delving simulation experience. Pitch counts go through an algorithmic process for pitcher/batter matchups with this feature turned on, which will trigger some higher frequency in strike outs and walk-outs. Player stats, however, remain intact.

These options can be turned off or on before proceeding into the actual game. However, with the Player Lock features applied, a regular game in MLB 14 The Show can last up to just 10 minutes, and can also last up to 30 minutes with the Quick Counts and Fast Play present. The reason for this implementation lies in the the fans being vocal about playing through games faster in MLB 14 The Show. Russell notes that the production team at Sony Computer Entertainment San Diego Studio went in with these comments in mind. For a more in-depth and technical look at the features, check out the gameplay trailer for MLB 14 The Show below. The game is set to release sometime this May for the PlayStation 4 and in April for the PlayStation Vita.
