Crysis Dev Announces Arena of Fate MOBA

Whilst there’s no actual confirmation of Arena of Fate being a multiplayer online battle arena, it is implied in Crytek’s press release, which was published yesterday on Thursday, May 22.

Akin to who Hi-Rex Studios’ Smite in terms of thematics (pitting various deities together against each other), Arena of Fate will throw in historical and fantastical heroes into the fray, including Frankenstein’s monster (referred to as “Frankenstein”), Jack the Ripper and Baron Münchhausen. In the field, you’ll be able to utilize each heroes’ famed traits in battle, such as using Jack’s cleavers to gruesomely rip apart your enemies and using Baron’s cannonball to launch across the map.

Imagine Joan of Arc and Robin Hood cooperating to hunt down Little Red Riding Hood – Wouldn’t that be terrific?Arena of Fate’s game director Vesselin Handjiev said in the press release.

But besides the game’s iconic heroes, which everyone in the team really loves, we are also challenging ourselves to carefully craft a streamlined player experience that allows for both greater accessibility, and rich, deep, action-packed gameplay,” he added. “We are very excited to meet the first wave of players in the arena this summer, and will be listening carefully to the feedback we receive and making the community’s contribution a key part of our efforts to perfect the fun.

Arena of Fate, a fast-paced five vs. five game, is scheduled to enter Early Access Beta testing on PC during the summer, and those interested will be able to sign up via the game’s official website.

Crytek will be launching Arena of Fate on PC and consoles on a yet-to-be-announced date, but further information on the title will be made available at this year’s E3 in Los Angeles on Tuesday, June 10 through to Thursday, June 12. Attendees are invited to have a hands-on go of the PC version at Crytek’s booth (no. 4500).
