Zombie-slaying fans rejoyce! The DayZ Standalone has just been released on Steam! The alpha version can be acquired for €23.99, a little more than we had been anticipating, but at this point…who cares? It’s the DayZ Standalone after all. The game is only available for the PC for now, and whether or not it will be available for consoles in the foreseeable future remains a mystery.
A couple of warnings though, before everyone assaults Steam and creates a global shut-down! This is still an alpha version, so it’s probably going to be riddled with bugs. Buying now means you’ll be playing a work-in-progress version as Dean “Rocket” Hall, lead developer of the game, has stated in his latest tweets.
Please do not just buy the game because you heard it was cool. Many streamers are now streaming. Visit this and view the (many) bugs first

The second tweet means that buying the game now will give you access to every future update, patch, fix, content pack…you name it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some fresh-spawns to kill!
