Motorola Moto G and HTC Desire 816 are two very nice phones. Although they may not have the features of many flagship devices, these two are actually splendid smartphones, and this is how they compare.
Design
Desire 816 measures 6.17 x 3.10 x 0.31 inches and weighs just 165 grams. On the other hand, the Motorola is slightly smaller and measures 5.11 x 2.59 x 0.46 inches with a weight of 143 grams.
Display
You can easily tell the two apart based on their screens. HTC went with a larger screen on this phone at 5.5 inches, 1 inch larger than Moto G. Although they both have the same resolution, their pixel densities vary. Moto G has 329 ppi while HTC’s screen is 267 ppi. However, they have similar features such as light and proximity sensors.
Camera
Both the front and rear cameras on Moto G are not as good as what the HTC comes with. It sports a modest 13 MP rear camera with a 5 MP front facing one whereas the Motorola has 5 MP for the rear camera with a 1.3 MP front one. Although both can record HD videos, their resolutions vary. The HTC does so at full HD while the Motorola can only manage 720p.
Hardware and OS
Again, these two devices have similar chipsets and as well as quad-core processor although operating at different speeds. That of the Motorola runs at 1200 MHz while the HTC’s is clocked at 1600 MHz. Moto G also has 1 GB of RAM while HTC Desire 816 comes with 1.5 GB. Motorola Moto G being an older version was released with android version 4.3 but went on to receive updates to 4.4.4, KitKat. The HTC, on the other hand, comes with android version 4.4.2 with sense v5.5 UI.
Battery
The two batteries are closely matched. Motorola’s has a capacity of 2070 mAh while that of the HTC is 2600 mAh.
Price
The HTC has slightly better features and it is also bigger meaning that it is priced higher than the Motorola. You are bound to find it for about $379 while the Motorola retails for about $179.
Verdict
The two phones are magnificent. Despite having a larger screen, many of the features in these gadgets are not very different. This coupled with Motorola Moto G’s price make is the best buy.
