In-Depth Look at Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris’ Puzzles

by GH Staff

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is NOT Rise of the Tomb Raider. Nevertheless, I’m totally going to get it 2 years after release.

The last Tomb Raider was a bit divisive in the hardcore fanbase (like EVERY reboot in the past 10 years), but it’s safe to say that the majority of people who played it enjoyed the new take on a classic character. Then there was Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a fun yet heavily overshadowed isometric co-op game based around Lara Croft’s adventures with native stereotype #278, section code Running Deer.

In what I personally think is a rather bizarre marketing decision, this game the world totally forgot about is getting a spiritual sequel in Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. Instead of running around with Running Deer, you are now joined by a colorful co-op cast of three other adventurers that I’ve identified below.

From the left; Django, Megan Fox, Tutenstein, and Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite.

All jokes aside, you came here for a look at the upcoming puzzles in the new Lara Croft spin-off, and for good reason.

Isometric games are typically not as action-oriented as their 3PS or FPS counterparts, and while I could write an entire article about why this is the case, you don’t give a damn, so I’ll sum it up like this; in a game like Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, you need high-quality secondary gameplay (in this case, puzzles) to complement the action sequences.

Jeff Wajcs (don’t try and pronounce that last name, don’t be a hero), a designer who worked on Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and certain puzzle sections in the Tomb Raider reboot, has some things he wants to share with us about the new puzzles (the aforementioned secondary gameplay) present in Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is due to come out on December 9th, 2014, for the PC, XBOX One and PS4 consoles.
