Despite lagging behind the PS4, Xbox One is in it to win it!

The so-called console war is raging strong, and it’s not just the Wii U that seems to be left behind. Sony’s PS4 has gained a significant lead in sales when compared to the Xbox One, and whether or not one console is better than the other doesn’t seem to matter to figures, that speak for themselves. However, Microsoft is nowhere near ready to back out of the fight just yet. Recent changes in Microsoft leadership have set Phil Spencer as the new head of Xbox, and under his management, things are looking brighter for the Xbox One’s future.

Answering fans on Twitter, Phil Spencer came out boldly, and revealed that Microsoft is “in it to win it”, in reference to the on-going console war.

How they will be catching up remains to be seen. A price reduction and bundle with Titanfall was an important first step, but the company needs to do a lot more to get Xbox One’s off the shelves faster than Sony is doing with its PS4. It seems Phil Spencer understands that games sell consoles, not the other way around, something that has been omitted by Microsoft’s gaming division as of late. Phil Spencer aims to push out as much content for the Xbox One as possible, and we’ve finally seen signs that Microsoft is starting to open up to Indie developers, developers that have so far been supported mostly by Sony. Hoping to see what exclusive titles the Xbox One has in store this year? E3 will likely blow us away, if what Phil Spencer is saying is true.

Answering a tweet that was inquiring about what hype Microsoft will be bringing to this year’s E3, Phil was quick to respond that it won’t be hype, it will be games. We’re expecting to see many titles at E3, but truth be told, not many of these are exclusives, so it will be interesting to see what the Xbox One team has up its sleeve. The console war is nowhere near lost. We’ll be seeing both the PS4 and the Xbox One on the market for a long time, and Microsoft has enough time to catch up and even take the lead. Of course, Sony won’t be sitting idly by either, so the competition will rage on, which can only mean cheaper consoles and more content for us end-users. For now, we’re extremely excited for E3 2014, and we’re sure Microsoft and the Xbox One will have something noteworthy in store.
