One of Destiny‘s strongest points is its aesthetic design and slick user interface, that isn’t to say that the game’s UI is perfect – as its is indeed missing some vital functions that many Destiny players are clamoring for.
Fortunately, Anrock1, a Redditor on Destiny’s subreddit has come up with a comprehensive concept design plan to enhance players’ Destiny experience. Anrock1 has designed a number of mock-ups that provide some insight into what Destiny may look like if Bungie were to implement some missing, but necessary, functions to the game.
Some of the features of Anrock1’s concept Destiny UI are practical, while others assist in the social aspect of the game.

Destiny – Concept UI Design by Anrock1
Easier Matchmaking:
The above feature shows other Destiny players in the tower what specific activity you are looking to do, which assists in finding and matching up with other players to team up with.
From Anrock1:
“While in the Tower, when bringing up the Nav Mode, you could press the D-pad buttons to change your status that would appear above your head, just below your level. “I’m looking for a Raid” – or others – would appear, being easier to find players that are looking for the same as you are.”
In-Game Grimoire Card Menu:
The image above shows what Destiny‘s Grimoire Card menu would appear if it was implemented into the actual game. It is identical to the websites appearance.
Destiny Vote Screen Concept:
The above shows a concept mock-up of a Destiny vote screen – for both Strikes and the Crucible.
Enhanced Navigation Mode:
The above concept tweaks Destiny’s navigation mode by adding a button that transports players to The Tower from any planet, alongside adding icons on the right side to help keep track of bounty progression.
Ammo Synthesis In-Combat:
One of the more interesting Destiny concept designs from Anrock1 is the ability to use Ammo Synthesis during actual combat, rather than pausing the action to go into the menu.
Anrock1 said the following in regards to this concept:
“You could use your D-pad to use ammo synthesis faster while you’re aiming down sights. If you hit the left D-pad button, as an example, while aiming your Heavy Weapon you’ll use the Heavy Ammo Synthesis. The same applies for the other guns types as well.
This is so important, it’s not just visual. I’m a PS3 player and when something is going on in the background sometimes it takes almost a minute for the Inventory to load. Which makes the Synthesis almost useless to old-gen players when you quickly need them in the VoG as an example.”
Quick Weapon Change:
This design adds an overlay to Destiny‘s UI that allows players to quickly change weapons.
Anrock1 stated the following about this design:
“I don’t know if this could work, maybe it doesn’t fit Bungie’s gameplay ideas, but I created it nonetheless. I don’t really know how it could be implemented (control) – holding the up (primary weapon), right (special weapon) and down (heavy) D-pad perhaps? This way it wouldn’t replace the current dancing, pointing etc. animations. Once the UI is on the screen, you could navigate through the guns using the d-pad buttons. It’d then disappear after a couple of seconds.
Some may find strange this UI in the middle of the screen, but that’s how most games works, it must be there for easier visibility. It could be more than 4 slots though – the one in the far right is the current gun being used. The option would only pop-up when holding the D-pad button, obviously. I kinda dislike this feature but I created the concept because some Guardians suggested it/liked the idea.”
