The Destiny countdown to one of the biggest games of the year continues to be the buzz around the internet and the gaming world. Destiny, developed by Bungie, has received tremendous praise since the public got their thumb sticks wore out during the closed and open Beta testing in July 2014. Now with little under three weeks to go, the buzz is getting a surge of hectic gamers with speculation and hype. Thankfully, Bunge’s Assistant Community Manager, DeeJ (David Dague), addressed the public in the heat of ‘the global guardian withdrawal epidemic’.
In the weekly address, DeeJ released some new details. Starting with “Launch Preparedness”, as the Bungie staff is currently overhauling Bungie.net and preparing for a final big appearance at PAX in The Seattle Convention Center on 31 Aug 14. More importantly the announcement was made for the staff closed internal test of the final version of the game this weekend. Although Destiny fans might begin
Destiny going live this weekend….For Bungieto salivate of the idea of a private invite, DeeJ stated “We know you’d love to help, but this golden moment is meant for us alone.” Now the disappointment should be short lived with the confirmation of the final game being in its final logistical stage (Disks pressed/packaged/shipping up next).
Now with pre-launch details out of the way, came some of the details the public has been craving. DeeJ informs everyone, Destiny will go live on 9/9/14 based on the gamer’s respected time zone. This contradicts reports of a world-wide server launch. The issue of stores breaking the street date was addressed, with the reply simply being “Retailers will break [the] street date. Our servers won’t”.
9/9/14 We will learn about the ‘Reef’Additionally other in-game information was addressed and in some cases, put to rest until 9/9/14. The “Reef”, a destination players can explore in the full game, has had little news reported about it. Unfortunately, this will remain the same as DeeJ essentially stated, come 9/9/14 guardians will know. Who knows, maybe the “Reef” will end up a location where Guardians will dance into the night while listening to their favorite party mix [insert your music here!]. Alternately, public events such as the highly rated ‘Iron Banner’ (PvP mode with all abilities activated), will be opened longer and less limited as gamers experienced in the Beta version. Finally, the trading cards collected and earned by players will have their practicality unveiled prior to the release of the game. Another smooth move by Bungie to keep people on the edge of their seat.
