Dev Releases PC Driver for Xbox One Controller

Recently, a savvy developer by the name of Lucas Assis revealed that he was developing his own driver to connect the Xbox One controller to the PC by utilized official Microsoft driver programs to get to work. By using a combination of three different programs, Assis managed to get the controller to communicate with a PC via USB. He demonstrated the fruits of his work in a video on YouTube, where he showcased the Xbox One controller being used to play  Batman: Arkham Asylum and Borderlands 2 on PC.

Whilst the controller’s triggers didn’t work during the demonstration, Assis assured in the video’s description that he managed to fix the issue by the time the video was uploaded and published. He also stated that he will be working on developing rumble support for the driver.

An announcement was also made in the video’s comment section that he would publish the Xbox One driver if “no-one contests to it.” Seeing as the driver has now published a couple of days later relative to the video,  it would be safe to say that the driver faced no resistance and is now free to use for everyone. Due to its high demand, the driver for the Xbox One’s controller was published, even though it was “developed [in] under a day,” according to Assis.

The driver, version 1.0, is available to download via OneDrive or by copying and pasting the following link into your browser’s search bar: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14675887/Xbox%20One%20Gamepad/XboxGamePad_1.0.rar.

Assis also put up a tutorial video to explain how to install the driver to your PC. He has also announced in the video’s description that Linux and Mac users “probably will have a version soon.
