Red Barrels has Started Developing Outlast 2

by GH Staff

Red Barrels, developer of Outlast, has recently confirmed that work has begun on the development of Outlast 2.

Speaking to Bloody Disgusting in an interview, Red Barrels co-founder Philippe Morin spoke out on the development:

“After shipping the XB1 version of Outlast, we took some time to analyze our situation and we quickly realized we had at least another horror game in us.

“So, yes, we are working on Outlast 2.”

Additionally, Morin stated that Outlast 2 will feature a new setting as well as new characters, but not before also clarifying that the team might return to the setting of the original game sometime in the future.

The game will be developed by a small team of 12 people to which Morin adds:

“… we’ll need a little bit of time to ship our next game, but hopefully it’ll be worth it.”

Outlast was released last year on PC and earlier this year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to positive reception.

The game had players take on the role of Miles Upshur, a reporter, who heads to an asylum to uncover reports of strange events occurring within the facility. Players were only equipped with a night vision camera and their wits as they, eventually, try to make their way out of the asylum.

The original Outlast is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, while it’s sequel will be released sometime in the near future.
