Blizzard has revealed that the expansion pack for Diablo 3 entitled Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls will be released on the 25th of January. The expansion pack will feature a new 5th Act, one that will take players through new caverns, dungeons and eerie dark forests. A new class is also being introduced, mainly the Crusader. Previous classes are getting a huge rework too, with new abilities, balancing changes and a higher level cap. In addition, the Mystic and Adventure Modes will be introduces, along some new content like Nephalem Rifts and Bounties.
The Standard Edition is available for pre-order for $39.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition will set you back $59.99 USD. The Standard Edition includes the game (doh!), but the Digital Deluxe Edition brings some nifty extras:
- unique weapon and helmet skins
- a Spectral hound pet
- 3 additional character slots
- a Treasure Goblin pet for World of Warcraft (assuming you have an account)
- portraits and decals for Starcraft 2
Lastly, there will also be a Collector’s Edition version which will be retailer-only and which will cost around $79.99. We’re saying around because the price may vary from retailer to retailer. Blizzard recommends pre-ordering these in time and reserving a copy, as they will be limited in number. The Collector’s Edition bundle will include everything the Digital Deluxe version brings, and will also contain a Malthael mouse pad, a hardback art book and a double disk DVD/Blu-Ray set containing some “Behind the scene” footage.
Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that Reaper of Souls will be released around the same time the Auction house removal patch will be deployed, so expect an entirely different experience altogether. If that wasn’t enough, new monster types will be introduced, a new loot system is being developed and legendary items will be getting pimped.
All-in-all, March looks like a mighty good time to give Diablo 3 another go.
