Blizzard has just revealed some new screenshots from the upcoming expansion pack for Diablo 3, entitled Reaper of Souls. The screenshots show off some of the new monsters we’ll be encountering, one of the new areas that we can explore, as well as the new crusader class.
The new area in the spotlight is the Blood Marsh, and we can’t help but think of Diablo 2’s Black Marshes here (an eerie area located between the Tamoe Highlands and the Dark Wood in Act I). The devs promised us a more darker tone in Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, and from what we’re seeing so far, they aim to deliver. The Blood Marsh looks dark, spooky and well…bloody. As it should be. It will definitely be a nice change of landscape following Whimsyshire, eh? And while this is just one of the new available areas in the expansion, we can expect more dark caves, forests and dungeons to carve our way through.
As for the crusader class, we’re seeing some sort of rework of the Paladin class from Diablo 2 here. Big shield? Check! Blunt weapons? Check! Heavy plate armor? Check! While the monk was the class that was supposed to replace the Paladin, we’re glad to see Blizzard introduce this heavy-plated holy warrior.
