Digital Extremes has sold 61% of its shares to a pair of Chinese companies

Digital Extremes, the company behind The Darkness 2 and Warframe has sold 61% of its shares

On Tuesday Digital Extremes revealed that they have sold 61% of their entire issued share capital to the two Chinese companies Multi Dynamic Games Group Inc. and Perfect Online Holding Limited, with is a subsidiary of Perfect World., Ltd.

Out of the two companies Multi Dynamic Games got the lion share of 58% while Perfect Online Holding only bought 3%. For players who are worried about what this means for Digital Extremes free to play title Warframe, don’t worry because CEO James Schmalz has stated that  “We are thrilled with the potential to work with partners who share our philosophy on the future of gaming and how we’re approaching it,” and that  “This partnership will further empower us to continue making Warframe bigger and better with full control over its destiny.”

The deal hasn’t been closed yet as it is still subject to several conditions including the rights to let Perfect World sell Warframe in China, since China has recently lifted its 14 year ban on the selling of consoles.
