As some may know, Xbox One game gifting has been a feature that was discussed before. But, thanks to Phil Spencer and a twitter user, we now know that game gifting on Xbox One is not currently planned.
In September of 2013, Albert Penello talked to Gamespot, and revealed “We[The team at Xbox] were trying to implement the ability to trade [and] loan digital games with your friends which is something that no one else was doing.” So, before Microsoft did it’s 180 policy change, game gifting could have been in development.
On top of this, Larry Hyrb commented on Xbox One game gifting on reddit, saying that it’s a “Great feature we’d like to add in someday, but it won’t be there at launch.”
But, most recently, Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, took to twitter to talk about game gifting on Xbox One. After being asked “Are there any plans in place to be able to gift games/DLC to friends?” on twitter, Spencer replied by saying “I like the feature, great part of digital, but we don’t have a plan right now.” The tweet can be seen below.

Though this in no way confirms or de-confirms anything, it’s definitely possible we’ll see some type of Xbox One game gifting in the future, especially since the head of Xbox likes the idea.
