Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke said the following regarding Divinity: Original Sin‘s financial success, and its impact on the studio’s future goals:

The commercial success of Divinity: Original Sin has given us an opportunity to make true some of our bigger RPG ambitions and I’ll be damned if we don’t seize that chance. Going all in paid off in the past so we might as well try again. After all, making big epic RPGs is what this company was made for even if the route there hasn’t always been that straight.”

Naturally, the both projects so early in development, Vincke stated that he cannot reveal much about the games as of yet. However, he did disclose that both new RPGs will use Divinity: Original Sin‘s game engine. It seems Larian Studios is adopting an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” methodology to development, allowing employees to focus on creating new content without having to deal with the rigors of a new engine.

In closing, Vincke stated the following in the overall goal of Larian Studio’s new RPGs:

Our goal is to make new campaigns based on the same core single- and multi-player RPG engine which continuously gets improved, to perfect the rulesets driving it and to increase the amount of stuff you can do in our RPG worlds, all the while making the lore and universe(s) more solid.
