The Division – New screenshots and info on the Snowdrop engine

The Snowdrop engine is the driving force behind Ubisoft’s upcoming next-gen online 3rd person shooter The Division, and the publisher has been kind enough to release some new images showcasing the light effects and the day/night cycle. And we’re impressed.

The Snowdrop engine not only provides great light effects (which will adapt to the actions of the player and his influence on his surroundings) and a stunningly realistic time passage, but also makes use of a destruction system that is not pre-rendered and reacts depending on what you do. “The destruction effect is not pre-baked in the game; it reacts differently depending on the physical forces at play.” said officials from Massive.
