The Division: Ubisoft’s post-apocalypse is alive

by GH Staff

There are a lot of anticipated games for the upcoming 2014. Among new titles and returning ones, Tom Clancy’s The Division also manages to make the list. In a world, where next-gen consoles are managing to bring more people into the gaming circles, abusive action is also increasing. We are all aware, how in games such as Battlefield, or Call of Duty, people who play multiplayer maps are always spitting on each other and using profanities. This is something which game director Jones Barnard is aware of and has a dream to change all that with “The Division.” A hard, but not impossible task, Barnard wants to bring back the good old days, where a multiplayer game was bringing entertainment and fun.

However, if we want to find out more about the game as a whole, we are going to hit some walls. As Massive is keeping the game under a veil of secrecy, we are not sure what to expect. From all we know, the game will feature new game modes and the competitive element will be one of the strong suits of Division. As we can see in the official site, you will be able to join multiplayer fights as a drone, through your tablet or smartphone and not only. With this title, Ubisoft wants to change how the multiplayer gaming is perceived. It suggests you to ‘gear up and live your own adventure,’ as in this game you are not dependent of your team. Tom Clancy’s the Division definitely brings us a new take on the Clancy series and may yet be a game, which changes the FPS Multiplayer experience.

Focusing on co-operation, rather than competitiveness, Ubisoft is working on a whole new matchmaking system. So don’t worry, if you don’t have friends, who are fans of the Clancy series, as you will be able to enjoy the game at its fullest, of course if you are not as shy. Nevertheless, we are not sure what exactly you can expect from the game, as there are rumors that Ubisoft will use new ways to track players during the game and meet them up, without even them expecting.

The Division will be a game only released to the next-gen console, but if it is half as good as expected, it should become a serious blockbuster and may be able to change the way we play multiplayer FPSs. Imagine, you are playing the game single-player, following the story and passing missions, and while you do that, instead of meeting up with NPC, which help you on your quest, you meet up with real people. It may be hard to imagine and may sound futuristic, but that is what Ubisoft is after. The ultimate multiplayer experience and a new way we look at games. Will we be able to see that? We can’t be sure. However, we will find out in late 2014, when the game will be officially released. Stay tuned for more news and info about newly released and upcoming games.
