During a special Microsoft Store event the other night, Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment explained that their upcoming behemoth of a game could actually get a DLC season pass. The Company went on to tease that a pilot-only mode may arrive sometime after launch.
Abbie Heppe, Respawn’s community manager stated that cofounder Vince Zampella’s tweet last week about the game not having a season pass was a mistake. She clarified that while the game wouldn’t have an online pass, it could see a season pass down the line, although Respawn has nothing to announce at the moment.
A tweet from the official Titanfall Twitter account apologizes for the confusion.
The season pass would include access to the (inevitable) Titanfall DLC packs at a discounted rate compared to if bought individually. Although Respawn has yet to announce any plans for post-release DLC for Titanfall, the developer said previously that DLC for the game was in the planning stages. Let’s be honest though, as big of a multiplayer game as Titanfall is going to be, significant add-on content should be expected.
Heppe said that a pilot-only multiplayer mode (which was previously leaked online) for Titanfall wouldn’t be available at release, but did tease us by stating “we’ll see what happens after launch.”
Titanfall launches on March 11th for the Xbox One and PC. An Xbox 360 version (being developed by Bluepoint Games) will be released on March 25th.
