$6 million. That is the amount for the prize pool of the International 2014. For those who aren’t aware, the International 2014 is the largest Dota 2 tournament of the year. Not only has the prize pool reached the $6 million mark, but it is expected to continue growing. Valve has decided to publicly sum up the amount for the prize pool. The Dota 2 prize pool is funded by fan donations and support. This all derives from the release of the Compendium just a few days ago. The Compendium is a way for fans to interact virtually with the International 2014. You can level up the Compendium and earn in-game bonuses, and even get rewarded from making Dota 2 tournament predictions.
Hitting this mark of over $6 million gives fans the opportunity to customize their bases, along with other environmental effects. Valve has yet to give word on when these rewards will be implemented into Dota 2. If you have any plans to purchase a Compendium, the 2014 edition will cost $10 USD. $2.50 of that amount will contribute to the prize pool.
The finals for Dota 2’s International 2014 will begin on July 18th.
