This week, being the last in which Dota 2 players were able to experience what the New Bloom festival has to offer was quite exciting and at times hilarious, thanks to the new random ability draft mode Valve presented. Excitement surrounding official DotA 2 pro-gamers and team was also presented as this week Zohu officially retired, Speed Gaming got a new coach and Meet Your Makers signed new team.

Meet Your Makers Team Reboot

This monday, the long forgotten Dota 2 team from Germany decided to get back into the pro gaming league after two years of absence. Releasing their official reboot lineup via posts on their official Facebook page to create hype around their announcement, Meet Your Makers revealed that Misery from Switzerland will be joining the team, but as a coach instead of a participant. The MYM Roster included Metehan ‘exist’ Aksüt from Germany, Jonathan ‘Unicorn’ Arge, Andreas ‘Cr1t-‘ Nielsen and Marcus ‘Ace’ Hoelgaard from Switzerland as well as Hampus ‘Mini’ Olsson from Sweden.

Speed Gaming joins the Cloud 9 HyperX family

Formed back in September 2013, Speed Gaming managed to prove itself worthy to be called a DotA 2 pro gaming team in just a few months time. Picked up by the Cloud 9 Hyper X family, their official roster consist of Jacky “EternalLEnVy” Mao, Weh Sing “SingSing” Yuen, Pittner “bOne7” Armand, Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling and Johan “pieliedie” Åström as well as Jack Etienne as their general manager. The news was released via the official Cloud 9 blog.

Zhou Officially Retired from the Dota 2 Stage

The former Invictus Gaming carry player, Chen ‘Zhou’ Yao has officially announced his retirement from the Dota 2 pro-gaming career after leading his team into a triumphant victory in The International 2 tournament. Releasing the announcement via the infamous Chinese microblogging social network Webio, Zhou stated that this is his own decision and he thanks the friends that supported him. Further explaining his reasons for the retirement, he also said that he will be active on the DotA 2 stage, but as a “commentator or coach.” The announcement was written in Japanese and later picked up and translated by Dotaland.

Stage One of MLG T.K.O. Europe DotA 2 Tournament Officially Ended

The first stage of the official MLG T.K.O. Europe Tournament in association with JoinDOTA ended. The eight teams battled it out and unfortunately NEXT.kz, Sigma.int and Virtus Pro did not manage to continue to the next stage of the tournament. Team Empire, Fnatic, Natus Vincere, Power Rangers and RoX.KIS will be moving on in the tournament. Official dates for the start of the Second elimination stage that will bring teams closer to the prize pool of $30,000 is yet to be announced.

The biggest Chinese DotA 2 online tournament will be back for a third open season with a prize pool of 90,000 RMB (~$14,600). Some of the biggest teams from the asian country such as iG, LGD.cn and DK will be joining the stage as well making the torunament even more exciting.

The Nexon Sponsorship League Season III Ended

The latest DotA 2 news this week comes to us directly from Korea, where the third season of the Nexon Sponsorship League has ended. Yesterday, climbing to the first spot Team Zephyr won the gold medals as well as the cash prize of about $57,000. The second place with a prize of about $7,500 has been taken by EoT Hammer, followed by 5 in QO in third with a prize of about $2,800 and MVP HOT6ix in fourth taking the cash prize of $2,800 as well.
